A few extra things...

 Handwriting without tears...
make sure to ask me what letter we practiced!

We sing a song about the planets revolving around the sun.
In this picture we are all revolving around our sun and each of us has
either a moon, a planet, an alien, or rocket ship to hold!

Zero the Hero, 90 days!!!!

Tuesday...

We made a volcano to further our discussion about Venus!

We also made a cloud to demonstrate the thick on Venus!
The atmosphere is so thick on Venus that you can not see the surface of the planet!
Make sure to ask me some interesting Venus facts!

things we wonder about, for our new unit...

We came up with some really great ideas.
We are really going to learn a lot during this unit!

Science time!

Did you know you could grow your own snow?
Indoors?
From a powder?
And all you had to do was add some water?

Well, we made some snow today and it was AWESOME!
Make sure to ask me how if was similar yet different from real snow!

Don't Forget...

Don't forget...
Although we learned our letter/sound on
Tuesday of this week, we still
have soundbox on Wednesday and
Thursday!

For soundbox, since we are learning about
the sound of /I/, your child may bring
in items that begin with the long OR short sound
of /I/!  We are talking about
both sounds and are working on
distinguishing between both the long and short
sounds!
Happy hunting!

2nd grade buddies!

We met with our buddies today to discuss Martin Luther King Jr, to watch a little video and to come up with our own 'dreams' for the future.  Make sure to ask me what my dreams were!

Gingerbread Hunt

We read a Gingerbread story today and at the end of the book was a clue!
We found out that we had a gingerbread boy in our classroom and that
he was leaving us clues to chase him around the school!
Make sure to ask me all the places we found clues!
And finally, the very last clue was stuck in our classroom door and our gingerbread boy
had left us a tasty treat for snack!
We never did catch our gingerbread boy, but we sure had fun trying!

One of todays activities...

Today we did two groups and flip-flopped.
One group worked on Handwriting Without Tears
and the other group did Writers Workshop.

For Writers Workshop, we drew and wrote the words for
things you see in the Winter!
Ask me about what I drew and wrote about!

Star of the Week... Bryce!

Morning meeting... our name song!

We got to pass our bumble bee and sing our name song (which we all love to do!) for our
new friend Xavier!

Welcome to our classroom, Xavier!

Double dose of Zair!

Zair had a very special day today!
Not only did we celebrate his birthday but he and his mom also
brought in our activity for our Zero the Hero activity!

Happy birthday, Zair!
